CAPTAIN BLOOD
LAUNCH TRAILER
The team at SNEG reached out to us with one of the most unique opportunities for a game trailer. A game lost to time and development woes since 2004 was being resurrected, and they needed a trailer that was tongue in cheek and hit the right feeling of nostalgia and humor. We were incredibly excited to get to work, so we sharpened our swords and set out to the sea.

We were tasked with creating the trailer from concept to completion, handling everything from direction, gameplay capture, editing, motion graphics, sound design, custom VO, and overall production polish.
It was important we aligned with the tone of earlier mid-2000s trailers in all their glory, while still giving Captain Blood the shine and spin that would make it stand out. This came from both the humor of the series, and the absurdity of elements of the game. This was why we chose to open with text that explains the historical significance of the game and the journey it had been through, to evoke some level of emotion and context that help viewers understand why they were seeing this now, and what the release itself meant.
Taking care of gameplay capture, we had to use a uniquely proprietary engine from the mid-2000s, which posed unique challenges to capturing footage for a game that is on rails, yet we made sure every shot was captured in-game and in real-time.
The audio side of things was another incredibly important pillar we wanted to get right, with a custom track all throughout courtesy of the composer, and our Voice Over that was both self-aware and humorous, we shared plenty of laughs perfecting the audio side of Captain Blood.
After lots of blood and chunky muscles, we released the Launch Trailer for Captain Blood.
